SCREENINGS

Mark Bozek, making his directorial debut, offers a unique glimpse into the life of legendary street photographer and fashion historian Bill Cunningham in New York. The film draws on more than three million previously unpublished photos and documents from Cunningham's archives, as well as the legend's own words from a recently unearthed interview from 1994, in which the famous photographer reminisces in his characteristically hilarious and candid way.

Among other things, the story includes how he earned extra money as a hatter in France while serving in the French Army in the Korean War, his move to New York in 1948, his extraordinary friendship with First Lady Jackie Kennedy, the beginning of his photography career, and his liberal and extremely democratic attitude to fashion.

We hear Sarah Jessica Parker as the narrator.

Videographer and photographer Getter Kuusmaa will make an introduction to the film screenings.
