SCREENINGS

How about a real look at how the working day of fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier goes? What constitutes the essence of his work? Gaultier's job is to make clothes, not to organize fashion shows, produce perfumes or appear in the media and on television. She makes clothes. Sketches designs, yes, but most of all designs garments by setting fabrics and constructing models on a model's body.

12 of Jean Paul Gaultier's most iconic pieces of clothing – ten womenswear and two menswear – are recreated on camera, directly on top of a model on a white background.

In the first stage of creating haute couture, a sewing sample is first made from raw beige linen fabric to assess the style of the finished item. This is the first draft, on which everything can still be changed before the final result is ready. "Jean Paul Gaultier at work" is like a serial shot, where we see how the designer's ideas materialize and the clothes are born right before our eyes. The narrator is the creator himself, who presents his creative legacy.

Fashion designer Liisi Eesmaa will make an introduction to the film screenings.
